Launch of 102.2 OnRoute FM

Wednesday, 12 April 2017

April 2017

As part of an ongoing focus on better informing our customers the NZ Transport Agency together with Auckland Transport have just launched a short-range radio trial which we wanted to ensure you were aware of, including so you could consider passing on information to relevant association members.

102.2 OnRoute FM will be on-air until 1 September 2017 in one of the busiest parts of the Auckland transport network.  If you're driving in the broadcast area (see below) please tune in. You can also visit www.nzta.govt.nz/onroutefm to find out more or to provide your feedback.

The aim of the trial service is to provide commercial and private motor vehicle drivers on route with information relevant to current or future journeys. Listeners can expect to hear a range of updates and advisories from the Transport Agency and Auckland Transport. We will also be broadcasting messages on behalf of NZ Police and Auckland Civil Defence and Emergency Management who are participating in the trial.

Pre-recorded messages will be available 24/7, however updates on current incidents will only be provided from 6am to 7pm, Monday to Friday.  Outside of these hours there are other sources of travel information including the NZTA website and the AT website.

It's important to be aware there may be some spots in the advertised broadcast area where topography or other factors affect reception. Conversely you may be able to hear 102.2 OnRoute FM outside the advertised area, however audibility is degraded due primarily to the lower signal strength. Further, messages on-air will include updates about activity outside of the broadcast area as appropriate, as we know many listeners will be travelling further afield.

Ongoing customer feedback will help us to continuously improve the service and to assess the success of the trial at its conclusion when our temporary FM licence ends, so we'd love to hear from you.

If you regularly drive in the broadcast area we recommend you pre-tune 102.2 FM into your vehicle's radio so you can easily access the station when on the move.

And ...if you know of anyone else who may be interested in 102.2 OnRoute FM - including others in your organisation - please feel to pass on this message and encourage them to sign up for occasional email updates.  We can also supply some promotional material if you would like to distribute it internally.  Just email us at onroutefm@nzta.govt.nz
